Daily Pretoria & Lydenburg (Mashishing) Shuttle

Apart from the fact that farming, trout fishing, and mining are now among the town’s most well-known industries, Mashishing (formerly Lydenburg) is a well-liked tourist destination since the Panorama Route begins nearly immediately after leaving Lydenburg, close to where the Long Tom Pass begins.

Safari Link provides a regular shuttle service between Pretoria and Lydenburg.

The town also has a long history because Andries Potgieter, a well-known Voortrekker leader, founded Lydenburg, as it was previously known, in 1850. For a brief time, it also served as the capital of the South African Republic (Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek).

Many history buffs have the Lydenburg Museum on their travel wish lists because the museum features the 500-year-old Lydenburg Heads, hollow clay sculptures. The statues are thought to have been utilised in religious rituals by the people who first entered the region a very long time ago.

We also offer shuttle services between Johannesburg and Lydenburg.
